THE Afterparty is back with another warehouse gig. On March 14, two top events will be squeezed into Bates Mill as Huddersfield’s Afterparty goes head to head with Leeds electro night Wax: On.

The double whammy is part of the Mixmag Tour 2009.

Mixmag is the latest in a series of high profile names the Afterparty warehouse gigs have attracted to Huddersfield.

In just a year, it has hosted Groove Armada, Pete Tong, Armand Van Helden and Scratch Perverts – even a live broadcast on Radio 1’s Essential mix.

It’s not just the Mixmag name which is the big draw for March 14’s event.

Headlining will be Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac, plus her Radio 1 colleague Kissy Sell Out.

Annie Mac appeared at the first warehouse Afterparty last year, performing alongside Groove Armada and Scratch Perverts.

Afterparty DJ Martin Doorly said: “She absolutely blew us away and we have had nothing but amazing feedback from her set, which also introduced Huddersfield to a little bit of drum and bass in a big room.

“Afterparty loves Annie and we are so happy to have finally got her back.”

Kissy Sell Out will be making his Afterparty debut on March 14.

He was booked after Afterparty organisers were inundated with requests from fans to have him appear.

DJ Doorly said: “When it comes to what DJs we should book for the Afterparty, we have never had so many requests for anyone to rival the demand for Kissy Sell Out.”

Kissy Sell Out has risen through the Radio 1 ranks and now has his own weekly show.

His album was released this year and he’s been performing a spectacular live show which involves playing a keytar – a cross between a keyboard and a guitar. Very 1980s!

His sets are described as energetic, to say the least, and he is never without an airhorn, so prepare for things to get loud.

Afterparty vs Wax:On runs from 11pm to 7am at Bates Mill, on Queen Street South.

For those who like to party hard, ticket holders can carry on dancing after the warehouse gig at the Camel Club, Byram Court, off John William Street, until 10am.

With the recession looming, Afterparty have done their best to cut costs and put tickets on sale at their lowest price ever at £15.

You can get them from, or at Camel Club, Revolution, Iocus, D Bar at Storthes Hall student campus. Alternatively, visit Crash Records or Jumbo Records in Leeds.
