HARD rockers Magnum are celebrating chart success ahead of their visit to the Holme Valley.

The 1970s formed band released their 16th studio album The Visitation in January and within a week it hit No3 in the rock chart and 55 in the UK album sales charts.

The Birmingham band are now set for a UK tour which stops at Holmfirth Picturedrome on April 22.

Guitarist Tony Clarkin said he thought it was one of their strongest albums in their illustrious near-40-year history.

He said: “I feel we haven’t brought out one really weak album, yet none of our previous recordings featured a better production than ‘The Visitation’.

“This release sounds more rock-oriented and at the same time more personal than anything we’ve recorded so far, and it definitely features the widest range of stylistic directions and atmospheres.

“What makes it so special is the fact that the music’s arrangements match the atmosphere and the lyrics’ statements. Every cog turns perfectly within the wheelwork.”
