FREESTYLER Jack Flash has put out a call for people to get down to Huddersfield’s home of hip-hop this weekend.

The Grass Roots night at Bar 1:22 on Saturday from 9pm features a top line up of live acts including Leeds collective Homecut, who have collaborated with Corinne Bailey-Rae, DJ Heritage spinning the latest tunes and a set from Flash himself.

The night centres around an open mic contest and dancing from live B-Boys and Huddersfield honeys the Dolly Mixtures.

Flash said: “I want to keep a nucleus of hip-hop in Huddersfield.

“People don’t have to take part in the freestyling but any aspiring artists should come down and join in.

“Everyone’s welcome, people need to get over the pre-conceptions of what a hip-hop night will be like and come down.

“You will enjoy yourself.”
