THE volume is set to be turned up soon at the Lawrence Batley Theatre – when the Noisebox Festival comes to town.

Noisebox returns to the Queen Street venue for the third year running on May 30.

The annual concert promotes the best up and coming bands across the region, placing Huddersfield firmly at the heart of new Yorkshire music.

It will host five of the most promising rock acts of 2009 from Yorkshire.

Funky DJs, drink promotions and a Caribbean buffet will ensure the summer music event ticks all the right boxes.

Headlining will be Huddersfield dance/funk outfit Kava Kava.

Well-known both locally and internationally, they have toured across the globe from Glastonbury to China and the US.

Also performing will be Huddersfield electro four-piece Project Sunset, who will be treating the crowd to a feast of sonic synth lines and driving beats.

Kirklees College three-piece The Bluelights will also be performing their eclectic mix of guitar pop and indie.

Completing the line up will be Manchester pop punk band Bleachbaby and Bradford rockers Disco Machine Gun.

Festival co-ordinator Alex Krzesinski says that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever before.

“After the fantastic response I had from last year, I knew I had to put Noisebox on again.

“I’m really excited about the line up, it’s not often you see such great bands playing under the same roof.

“It just proves that Noisebox is growing every year. It’s going to be massive, with something for everyone!”

Alex started the concept of Noisebox in 2007, running monthly showcases at Zephyr bar on King Street.

Noisebox soon became a highlight on the Huddersfield music scene, promoting the best local and national talent to an enthusiastic crowd.

“It’s great to know that Huddersfield is hungry for live music,” says Alex, “and what better way to celebrate the north’s finest rock bands than to showcase them at the best venue in town.”
