WRITTEN by David Baddiel, The Infidel is a comedy which follows the journey of self-discovery of a family man, whose entire world crashes down around him when he discovers a long buried secret about his past.

Doting husband and father Mahmud Nasir (Omid Djalili) is not the most observant or devoted member of his Muslim community but he is fiercely proud of his family, including his son Rachid (Amit Shah), who is poised to marry the daughter of a radical Islamic cleric.

When his mother passes away, Mahmud searches through her belongings and discovers his birth certificate. Shockingly, he learns that he was adopted at birth and when he digs deeper, Mahmud learns that his real name is Solly Shimshillewitz and that he was born a Jew.

Confused by this turn of events, Mahmud secretly solicits advice from Jewish cab driver, Lenny Goldberg (Richard Schiff), who helps Mahmud to track down his father and learn the etiquette of his birth faith.
