ELECTRO rock band Kava Kava are heading Stateside again for SXSW.
The Huddersfield band are heading to Texas next month after being selected to play at the prestigious week-long music conference for the second time.
SXSW (South by Southwest) is arguably the most important US event for breaking UK music – helping to launch the careers of the Kaiser Chiefs, Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey Rae to name a few.
Kava Kava first played it in 2007, an appearance which ultimately helped land them a deal with New York label Midnight Swimming Records, who have just released their debut North American album release Forwards.
Having organised the first ever SXSW Yorkshire Showcase last year, featuring Wild Beasts, Sky Larkin, Rolo Tomassi, Talk To Angels and Paul Marshall, frontman Pat Fulgoni is now working on a Yorkshire follow up at the Texas based event itself.
This year Kava Kava are joined by Leeds rap/rock crossover band Middleman and now the two bands are joining forces to try and raise funds for the costly American trip.
The SXSW fundraiser also featuring Pifco and The Wind Up Birds is at The Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on March 3. Doors 8pm. Entry £3.
Kava Kava’s new single Clarity is out on April 26 on Chocolate Fireguard Records.
