FOR York group Make It Better Later, their moniker has been more than just a band name – it’s been their philosophy.

The four-piece started out on a cold winter night in Hull in 2005, having booked a few gigs before they had even written a song.

They figured they could ‘make it better later’ – and they certainly did just that.

Since then, they have crafted a mix of laid back harmonies and violin-fuelled punk rock, combining influences from folk, ska, reggae and punk.

Singer and guitarist Aaron, bassist Fil, violinist Amy and drummer Yom gigged relentlessly during 2006 and 2007 to get their name known and have released an EP and album on their own label.

Their reputation for an energetic and entertaining live show saw them secure live slots with indie kinds Ash and rap-punks Zebrahead across the UK.

As their success grew, they released their debut album last year with Party House Records and had airplay on Phil Jupitus’s BBC6 Music show for their single Headlines and Lies.

Now, they are preparing for their first headline tour of the UK, which begins in August.

The 12-date tour includes a gig at The Parish in Huddersfield on August 15, which starts at 7pm.

The band are also preparing to release a brand new EP later this year on Periphony/Party House Records.
