One of Huddersfield’s most iconic bands is to take to the stage again.

Following the huge success of the Graham Philpott memorial gig at The King’s Head in Huddersfield back in June, blues band Ckreed are set to play another gig.

They will reform for the gig at Marsden Social Club this Sunday.

Band members say there was an “overwhelming” response to the memorial concert and they have been inundated with requests for a repeat performance.

The band has had varied line-ups over the years but included the likes of George Gray (guitar), Steve Carter (bass), Graham Philpott (vocals and harmonica) and Geoff Layton-Bennett (drums).

The memorial concert featured Steve Carter’s son Ben and drummer with UK band Evile on vocals, who will take to the stage again at Marsden.

A spokesman said: “The response to the gig at The King’s Head has been amazing.

“The band keep getting asked when and if we are going to do it again, and for me there would be no better place to return to than Marsden Social Club”.

Ckreed Blues Band used to feature at Marsden Social Club as part of the annual Marsden Jazz Festival weekend, filling the club to the rafters at their slot on the Sunday afternoon.

Various factors meant that they haven’t performed there for the last few years, but they are looking forward to a return this year.

Ckreed will be in action at 6pm, following local Rock n Roll band JB Goode who will be performing at 4pm. Entry is £1 on the door.
