INDIE rockers Redstar travel to the capital tomorrow for their date with destiny.

The Huddersfield band are heading for one of the biggest gigs of their lives as they play the Live and Unsigned final at London’s O2 Arena.

The final is set to be judged by music industry experts, including Radio 1’s DJ Target, Kiss FM Breakfast presenter Charlie Hedges and Kerrang’s Alex Baker.

The winning act will receive £10,000 cash prize and embark on a big tour this summer spanning 14 top festivals across the UK including; Relentless Energy Drink Boardmasters, Sundown, Strawberry Fields Festival, Cloud 9 Festival, Glass Butter Beach, Brownstock and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

On top of that Live and Unsigned has partnered with musician’s website Music Radar to offer a £100,000 winners prize pool featuring music equipment and studio time.

The opportunity is of special significance for keyboardist Joe Leadbeater, above right.

Joe’s, father David and twin brother Michael, have already performed at the arena playing trumpet and trombone respectively.

He said: “This poses the question, has there been three members of the same family play at this prestigious venue?”

This year’s competition also offers acts an extra chance of exposure as it is being filmed for Sky TV in an exclusive fly-on-the-wall documentary, Live and Unsigned: Uncut.

Chris Grayston, Events Director of Live & Unsigned, said: “We’re all about originality, live ability and credibility. It’s a fantastic achievement to make it to the Grand Final at The O2, one of the best music venues in the world. “Whatever happens it will be a great day for all the acts performing, whether they win or not.

“Last year half a dozen acts were signed to both label and management companies, after representatives were invited as guests. This marks a great opportunity for finalists being part of the final and the opportunity of playing festivals with some of the biggest names in the industry!

“I can’t wait to see what the acts have got in store for us at the final it’s going to be terrific!”
