MIAMI punk rockers Black Tide will be hitting the shores of the UK later this month.

The band will be touring the country during January, calling at Leeds Academy on January 24.

Black Tide are being billed as one of the most explosive things to happen to music since hard rock and heavy metal transformed the face of music in the mid 1980s.

Singer Gabriel Garcia, guitarist Alex Nunez, bassist Zakk Sandler and drummer Steven Spence have taken inspiration from classic metal as well as titbits from rock bands like Motley Crue and fused all this with a punk rock spirit.

They aim to create a musical assault that would make the greats like Metallica proud.

With their instrumental skills, youthful energy – all the band members are under 20 – and charisma, they are attracting the attention of young music lovers across the globe.

They released their debut album Light From Above in February 2008 and have even infected mainstream airwaves – Radio 1 has play listed the band on its daytime schedule, with their thrash metal sandwiched between pop, indie and RnB.

Black Tide have been making waves since being kicked off the Jagermeister stage at OZZfest 2007 for being too young, only to then be placed on the main stage by Sharon Osbourne to open the festival daily.
