A NEW comedy night is launching in Huddersfield in the bowels of a town centre church.

The Crypt Comedy Night will be hosted at St Peter’s Parish Church – beginning on Saturday, November 24, with a fantastic line-up of comedians. Headliners are Alfie Moore, inset, and Will Marsh with support acts (tba) plus compere June Broon from Dundee.

Alfie Moore, a Sheffield-born comedian with an everyman likeability, is fresh from a national tour and a successful solo Edinburgh show, I Predicted a Riot.

Last year he was a star of ITV1’s Show Me The Funny and most recently he’s been featured in BBC3’s Bizarre Crime.

Will Marsh will preview his new solo show about growing up with America, set to be debuted at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in 2013.

Promoter, Dave Cowan, said: “The Keys restaurant in The Crypt has played host to comedy before with many stand-ups comics like Stan Boardman and Peter Kay’s warm up act Barbara Nice.

“It was also the venue for Frank Carson’s last ever gig before he died.”

The Keys restaurant is underneath St Peter’s Parish Church, Byram Street, Huddersfield, HD1 1BU.

Doors 7pm, first act 8pm, last orders 11.30pm. Tickets: £10 including a pie and pea supper. Call 01484 516677 to book tickets with a card.
