OXJAM Huddersfield Takeover is just a week away with dozens of bands set to play six venues around town.

The October 20 event will see bands playing at Rhubarb, Molly Malones, The Parish, Black Lounge, Verve and The Head of Steam as well as live street performances at Mandela Corner, behind Huddersfield Library.

The charity gigs are in aid of Oxfam and this year will be the third year the event has been held in Huddersfield.

Oxjam Huddersfield boss, Matthew Gabrielli, said: “We are all extremely excited about this year’s Oxjam, and feel that it has the potential to be the biggest and best yet in Huddersfield. We’ve got more bands than ever before, but based on the talent that wanted to be involved, it wouldn’t have been fair to leave so many out.

“We’ve got everything from new up and coming student bands to traditional acoustic acts that have been gigging for years!

“We’ve got The Rag-Tags who played with Mumford and Sons this summer, Revive Entertainment Battle Of The Bands winners, Feeds, and bands that have played all around Yorkshire and the UK, so there is something for everyone.

“We’ve also got two new venues this year in Molly Malone’s and The Black Lounge and we know that everyone who attends will enjoy these venues and the music that’s taking place.

“This year we’ve also been lucky enough to offer prizes such as a DJ slot at Leeds Festival and have done some promotion with Huddersfield Town, and there has already been discussions about how Oxjam Huddersfield can be even better in 2013!”
