THEY are known to many as pioneers of the skate-punk music scene – and now Agent Orange are heading to Huddersfield.

The Californian trio will perform at the Parish on April 21.

For many, Agent Orange’s distinctive punk/surf sound has long been synonymous with skate punk and the skateboard ‘revolution,’ which has been highlighted in the past few years by 2001’s documentary movie Dog Town And Z Boys and the 2005 movie Lords Of Dogtown, starring the late Heath Ledger.

Agent Orange were the last group to play the legendary CBGB’s in New York before the closure and have proved an inspiration for many bands who followed the skate punk lead – Greenday, The Offspring and Bowling For Soup to name but a few.

They were name-checked by Bowling For Soup in their hit single Girl All The Bad Guys Want.

Legendary Skateboarder Tony Hawk counts them as one of the top 10 most influential bands of all time and has their songs featured on his skating computer games series.

Supporting acts on the night will Huddersfield band Mr Shiraz.

The band are preparing to release a double A-side single before their long-awaited new album is unleashed on the public.

The five-piece have been trekking across the globe recently, perfecting an intense live show.

Also supporting will be Love And A .45, a female fronted rock group from London. With bubblegum bounce and infectiousness, plus their own original sound, they are set to rise further up the greasy pole of the music industry.

Also on stage will be 3CR, a hardcore punk band who are becoming well-known on Manchester’s punk scene.

Tickets for the gig cost £8 in advance and are available from the Parish or by calling 01484 421950.

Fresh has two tickets to the Agent Orange gig to give away to a lucky reader who can correctly answer the following question ...
