Lisa was born in London in 1979. She was first seen as the only female member of the notorious So Solid Crew, who hit No 1 in August, 2001 with their song 21 Seconds.

After they split, she began a successful solo career, with singles In Love and All Over being two of the biggest selling in 2003. She also founded her own record label, Maffia Recordz, as well as launching a clothing range.

She’s been busy recording her second solo album, but found time to write and sing on current single Bad Girl (At Night) with club DJ Dave Spoon.

Bad Girl (At Night) is out now.

LISA, ARE YOU WELL? KEEPING BUSY? Lisa: I’m very well. I’m on a radio tour right now, doing interviews and promo for the single. It feels like we’ve driven around the whole world, one show after another, but it’s all good. I’ve just got back from Ibiza too.

WHAT DID YOU DO THERE? Lisa: I did a Radio 1 show there, and some club shows as well. We were there for a week, and did about 10 clubs as well as our weekly show. We’ve been going for five years now, and I’ve been doing PAs in clubs there all this summer.

HOW DID BAD GIRL COME ABOUT, AND WORKING WITH DAVE SPOON? Lisa: My management introduced me to some people, and they had Dave’s track. As soon as I heard it, I knew it was brilliant. I took it away to work on, but when I got it home, I didn’t know what to do. I left it a week or two and got into the studio. I was actually going to use the lyrics that are on there for a dancehall track I was planning on doing with Ninja Man, but I decided to break it down, rewrite it and then used for Bad Girl instead.

YOU’VE BEEN AWAY FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS - WHY RELEASE THIS NOW? Lisa: Well between this and the last album, I’ve set up my record label, signed a few artists and done a calendar. I’ve also spent some quality time with my daughter, Charity. I didn’t get to have loads of time with her when she was younger, because of my album and So Solid Crew taking off. Demand for us to be on the road was amazing. So I’ve been catching up with her. She’s 10 now, so we have a laugh together and when she was off school, she came on the radio tour with me. We go shopping together, it’s brilliant.

SO WHEN CAN WE EXPECT THE ALBUM? Lisa: I’ve nearly finished it, so depending on what happens with singles, that’ll be out later this year or early next. Because I’ve been away a while, it’s nice to introduce myself again with a couple of singles. Bad Girl is nothing to do with the album, just a one-off, but I’d definitely be tempted to do a few more house tracks just to see how far I can go with that.
