HOLMFIRTH rockers Silence Rises have been chosen to support indie pioneers The Wedding Present at a brace of northern gigs.

Silence Rises were formed from the ashes of former Huddersfield group Popcorn Groove earlier this year.

As featured in WoW, the band reformed 20 years on from splitting for an emotional charity gig for popular Huddersfield drummer Craig ‘Clag Beast’ Wood, who died in 2009.

Having previously gigged with The Wedding Present in their hey-days in the late 80s, the four piece are now set for a nostalgia trip when they support the Leeds band at gigs in Clitheroe and Middlesbrough on August 12/13. The Wedding Present will play closer to home at the At The Edge Of The Peaks Festival at Holmfirth Picturedrome on August 29.
