Two years ago she was in Huddersfield sharing the stunning musicianship which has made her an international name in the music world.
Those who heard classical trumpeter Alison Balsom play in the Town Hall as guest of New Mill Male Voice Choir will be delighted to hear that she has won one of the biggest awards of her career.
Alison has been named artist of the year at this year’s Gramophone Classical Music Awards, in the process becoming the first British woman to win the prize.
The win, voted for by thousands of classical music fans around the world, continues a successful 2013 for the musician who made her debut at Shakespeare’s Globe this year and also performed at the Proms and the Latitude festival.
She said: “I’m so thrilled. I could not think of a better way to end the best summer of my life than to receive this hugely prestigious honour. ”
