It started out several years ago as a supposedly one-off event.

But Glorious Voices has become a regular and much-loved part of the area’s musical calendar, and this year’s workshop is scheduled for May.

The driving force behind the event is Anne Levitt, who is much admired as a musical director and accompanist working with amateur operatic societies and choirs.

She will be leading a workshop on Saturday, May 17 at New Mill Working Men’s Club.

If you want to improve your singing or are thinking of joining a choir but haven’t quite got the confidence, here’s your chance.

It’s a friendly day with lots of things to learn and to enjoy.

Singers gather from across the area for Glorious Voices sessions and they will be learning new music.

The main focus of the May session is Ave Maria No 1 by Rihards Dubra.

Anne says it is on YouTube if you want to have a listen first.

Yoga expert Isabel Carter proved a big hit with the singers at a previous event and she will be back to give further insight into yoga and the voice.

The day runs from 10am until 5pm and will cost £20.

Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day, but you will need to take a packed lunch.
