BRENDA Mosley is the new president of Huddersfield Choral Society and will head the organisation for the next two years.

Mrs Mosley takes over the role from John Denham who has just stepped down after his term in office.

The handover came at the Choral’s annual meeting, and marked an emotional moment for Mrs Mosley who is well-known in the area for her involvement with a number of charities and organisations.

“I am honoured to be able to continue the association with Huddersfield Choral Society which started when my late husband David was appointed vice president in 2006, she said.

“He really enjoyed his involvement with the running of the society, and his sudden death in August last year robbed him of the opportunity of becoming president.

“I feel I would like to continue the work he started, and I was delighted to be asked to take over from him as vice president last year.

“I am looking forward to helping the society develop its international reputation as the leading choral society in the UK as we plan for our 175th season in 2010/11.”
