SHE’S a young performer with more talent than seems decent.
Actress, stand-up comedienne and ventriloquist Nina Conti (pictured) has been winning awards and many admirers with her quirky, hugely imaginative performance style.
Critics at last summer’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe loved her so there’s little wonder that she’s been persuaded out on tour this year. She’ll be at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Sunday night with a show called Complete and Utter Conti.
The show is described as a hotchpotch of stand-up, sketches and variety, all of which rely heavily on the use of ventriloquism.
It is a skill that Nina took up with the encouragement of Ken Campbell.
It is little wonder that Nina has taken to performing with such a passion. She grew up in Hampstead and is the daughter of actors Tom Conti and Kara Wilson.
Nina left university with a first- class degree in philosophy.
She has been an actress since the mid- 90s, including a stint with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The LBT show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets on 01484 430528.
