There is still time to see an exhibition of signed LS Lowry prints at the AC Gallery on Byram Street in Huddersfield.

The works, mainly limited edition, represent the largest collection of signed prints by the artist in the North.

They have been drawn together from private collections by gallery owner Mike Baggs, who recognised the huge demand for Lowry’s works.

He said: “This year with the huge exhibition at The Tate, demand for Lowry has been higher than ever.

“We bought in two signed prints two months ago and put on a small show of poster prints. The signed prints both sold within hours of going on show and the others within the week.

“I decided maybe we should put together a show and it snowballed from there. It’s taken a lot of phone calls, emails and many, many car journeys to get the collection together. Every print has been carefully verified.”

Prices for Lowry originals are now well beyond the means of those with modest finances and collectors have moved on to signed prints, which can still fetch thousands. Lowry only released around 50 prints in his lifetime and many were lost or destroyed before their value was recognised.

The show closes on October 26.
