OPERA singer Ann Taylor is to perform a lunchtime concert in Dewsbury.

The Cheshire-based mezzo-soprano will perform at Dewsbury Town Hall on April 15.

She will be joined by pianist Michael Cleaver, of Arcturus for the concert, which will start at 12.30pm.

Ann studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and National Opera Studio.

Since her debut for Opera North, she has sung with WNO, Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne Festival and Touring Opera and for La Monnaie, Opera Zuid, Bayerische Staatsoper and the New Zealand Festival.

Her concert engagements include the BBC Proms, Edinburgh and Cheltenham Festivals, plus the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Michael has worked on over 120 operas for companies in Britain and Germany.

He now plays regularly with the Orchestra of Opera North, formerly the English Northern Philharmonia, including a series of performances of Richard Strauss’ suite Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme and concerts of Copland, Orff and Stravinsky, especially Petrushka, which was also broadcast from the Proms in London.

For Opera North, Michael has also written about the concept programme Opium and William Walton’s Troilus and Cressida.

Tickets for the joint performance cost £4 or £3 for concessions and can be bought in advance from Kirklees Booking Offices on 01924 324501.
