ANDREW Nix is one of the most popular personalities in the world of organ music.

Tomorrow you can hear Andrew play at the Paramount Penistone on its Compton cinema organ.

Andrew Nix, who is 41, is from the Selby area where he still lives with his wife and three daughters.

Andrew has been playing organ music since he was a child and soon after leaving school he was offered the chance to play three nights a week in a local club where he accompanied artistes and played for dancing.

It was training that was to prove priceless for Andrew who was just 17 when he was appointed organist and musical director for a theatre group performing at Butlins, Barry Island.

After three further seasons with Butlins and one for Haven Holidays Andrew’s freelance career took off. These days, he is much in demand for concert work and dances nationwide.

Tomorrow, he will be in Penistone (September 12) to play as part of the cinema’s regular concert season. The music begins at 2.30pm and tickets are £6 on 07944 566972.

In the last few years, Andrew has also been working alongside colleague Tony Stace, another accomplished musician who is well-known on the organ concert circuit.

The duo have become a much sought after double act matching music and humour that goes down a treat with audiences nationwide.

Tomorrow though, Andrew is flying solo at the keyboard in Penistone.
