HE’S such a hit with concert audiences at the Rex Cinema, that he’s now a regular.

Paul Gregson will make the journey from Cumbria to play this Sunday’s organ concert at the cinema in Elland.

Born in Leyland, Lancashire, Paul began playing the piano at an early age. But he was initially discouraged because of a teacher who did not believe in ‘playing by ear’.

Though his lessons stopped, Paul had learned enough to carry on and pick up the pieces he wanted to play.

The lack of lessons certainly didn’t hold him back because by the time he was 16, Paul was making his public debut – playing the organ at a funeral.

Paul and his parents then moved to Sawrey in the Lake District and he became organist at Hawkshead church.

Now Paul is regularly asked to play for concerts and functions and for the last four years he has made music his career.

Sunday’s concert (June 16) starts at 2.30pm.

Admission is £4.10.
