PADDOCK Orchestra returns to Armitage Bridge next weekend to play its spring concert in the beautiful surroundings of St Paul’s Church.

This has become a regular venue for the choir which will be conducted at the March 16 concert (7.30pm) by its resident conductor, Barbara Bancroft. The orchestra leader is Christine Hoare.

The orchestra will open with the overture from Rossini’s La Gazza Ladra or The Thieving Magpie and will also play the Capriol Suite, a set of dances composed by Peter Warlock.

Likely to be immensely popular is the choice of the L’Arlesienne Suite by Bizet followed by Schuman’s Symphony No 1 in B Flat Major.

Tickets for the concert are available on the door.

This a long established orchestra which performs at least three concerts a year.

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at Paddock Village Hall.
