EX-Huddersfield art student Frank To has been exhibiting his work at the famous Albemarle Gallery in London.

The Glasgow-born artist, who studied at Huddersfield University, is gaining international recognition for his unique painting technique, which involves teasing out figures from abstract images.

High profile collectors hang his work next to their Picassos and Warhols and they include actor Patrick Stewart – chancellor of Huddersfield University – who has followed Frank’s work since his student days. The London exhibition has been a shared showcase with Richard Harrison and marks the second time that To has exhibited at Albemarle.

He said: “Following my first in 2007, I devoted most of last year to working on paintings for this exhibition, which will herald the unveiling of my new painting style.

“I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to show my latest work alongside Richard Harrison, who inspired me as a student.

“Richard and I share a fascination with mythology, which influences our art and our paintings share a haunting and aggressive quality.”
