IF YOU are in to poetry or music or better still both, then there’s an unmissable gig fast approaching in Holmfirth.
It features poet Simon Armitage and musician Roger Davies. The two worked together at Birdsedge Village Hall last year and the gig was filmed by the BBC for The Culture Show.
Simon is taking along his band, The Scaremongers.
The gig is on May 7 at Cragrats, Dunford Road with a repeat on the following night and is being staged as part of the Holmfirth Festival of Folk in conjunction with Holmfirth Live.
Exciting times for Simon and his fans. He’s being touted as one of the favourites for the post of Poet Laureate which is to be announced next month.
Roger Davies is becoming a big name on the folk scene and his reputation is well deserved.
The Scaremongers are a seven piece band – including Simon, as you have never seen or heard him before.
