AUTHOR Joanne Harris and poet Simon Armitage are giving a helping hand to some of the UKs best new writers.

The Grist Anthology has provided a unique platform for emerging writers by publishing their work alongside some of the best known names in literature.

The anthology features newly commissioned work from Simon Armitage, Lemn Sissay, John Boyne, Helen Simpson and Ian McMillan alongside some of the freshest new writers.

Collection editor Michael Stewart said: “The stories and poems in this collection represent some of the most daring, distinctive and boldly imaginative writing in English today.”

The winners of the Grist short story competition and the Grist poetry competition, judged by Huddersfield writers Simon Armitage and Joanne Harris, will be announced at the launch, which takes place at the next Huddersfield Literature Presents night this Wednesday at The Peacock Lounge in Huddersfield, starting at 7.30pm.
