Holme Valley Orchestra joins Scholes Methodist Choir for its Christmas concert in Scholes Methodist Church.

The concert at 7.30pm next Wednesday December 11 will feature a selection of popular classic and festive favourites.

Under the baton of James W Morgan, the repertoire will include Bizet's Farandole from L’Arlesienne, James Morgan’s arrangement of Gaudete, Leroy Anderson’s Christmas Festival and Bob Krogstad’s arrangement of Christmas at the Movies with themes from Christmas movie favourites such as Miracle on 34th Street and The Polar Express.

The choir will perform a selection that will include Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud and She was one of the Early Birds And I Was One Of The Worms with soloist, Richard Thompson.

They will also sing Christmas favourites such as I Saw 3 Ships, List Our Merry Carol and a Christmas Medley (including Have Yourself A Very Merry Christmas, Winter Wonderland, I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas and Jingle Bells).

The choir and orchestra will also combine for a rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah and members of the audience will get to sing along with some popular Christmas carols.

The programme will also include a couple of festive monologues and a sketch from Gervase Finn's Book With Bells On.

Tickets are available at the door priced £6 and £2 for under 16s.

The following week members of the orchestra will be playing carols at the Wooldale Arms on Wednesday, December 18.
