Jonathan Yates and Stephen Hurrell will be here with you all day highlighting the biggest deals for Amazon Prime Day 2016 - a sales event the online retailer claims is bigger than Black Friday. With thousands of discounts on electrical goods, fashion and beauty, toys, games and music items, the sale offers huge discounts for a limited time period.

Amazon Prime Day is available to Amazon Prime customers, but there is a way around this without shelling out for the £79 per year subscription. Simply sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime and you get 30 days free. If you cancel the subscription before the 30 days is up you can take part in the deal day without paying for the full subscription.

That’s all from us today as many deals begin to come to an end. However, the Amazon sale continues until midnight tonight so keep checking back to see more added.

Technical issues?

Some people are reporting issues with adding items to their cart. It seems Amazon is experiencing high levels of traffic on Prime Day and that is causing a few technical issues.

Ending soon!

There are a number of deals ending in the next few hours.

Playstation 4 and Xbox One games will soon be gone - Batman Arkham Knight is just £13 for the next few hours, while Tom Clancy’s The Division is £25 for a short time only.

But let’s return to what Amazon Prime Day deals are all about. Massive TVs. There is less than three hours left on a deal for a Sony Bravia 48-inch HD Smart TV with Freeview, HDD Rec and USB Playback. It’s currently £399, down from £660.

It’s worth reiterating: Some Amazon Prime Day deals are better than others.

The best Amazon Prime Day deals - entertainment

The bulk of people heading to Amazon are looking for deals on electronic items, but there are a host of deals on entertainment items ranging from computer games to books to ‘Exploding Kittens’. That’s a board game, and we’re sure no kittens were harmed in the making of it.

Here are three of the best:

1) Unchartered 4: A Thief’s End - The popular PS4 game is now £31.99, down from £43.82. It’s proving to be one of the most popular deals of the day.

2) Exploding Kittens - This is a card game for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats. It’s £10.39 if you want to try to get your head round that.

3) Adult colouring - Colouring books for adults all the rage. Deals start from around £12 for the latest in adult colouring books.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

In the UK there will be new offers every five minutes for customers across all departments and product categories, and purchases will be available to pick up in a selection of locations.

The catch is - you have to be a Prime member - which costs £79 for the year and gives you access to free delivery and deals such as this.

But if you want to skip the cost and still enjoy the Prime Day then you can start a free one-month trial and cancel it before the month is up.

The biggest discount so far is a whopping 76% off this Oral B toothbrush. However, we reckon 66% off the complete Game of Thrones box set is probably going to be more popular. It’s down from £66 to £22.

Other Top Deals chosen by the retailer include 40% off TVs, a Playstation 4 bundle for £240 and a third off wine.
