Here are the last dates to order Christmas presents online

Lots of us are turning to online shopping to tick off our Christmas lists these days — but you need to make sure you order gifts in time for December 25.

Luckily some of the major retailers are taking orders up to two working days before Christmas, meaning they can be delivered in the nick of time for the big day and no one is left disappointed.

If you're planning to order your gifts from the comfort of your sofa and avoid the Christmas rush in Huddersfield town centre , we've got the cut off dates you need to make sure your deliveries make it on time.

Here are the dates for your diary - including advice if you're buying (or selling) presents on eBay and Royal Mail posting dates too.

Final dates for John Lewis:

Tuesday, December 20

Standard delivery (free on orders over £50) order by 7pm.

Thursday, December 22

Order by 8pm for Next Day delivery - this service costs £6.55.

If you're going to be busy the following day pay £9.95 and have the item delivered before 10:30am.

Wednesday, December 21

If you are ordering large items like furniture or kitchen and houseware appliances order before 7pm. This delivery option only applies if your order is being delivered by John Lewis and not a courier service.

Select Next day delivery for £19.95 and your items will be with you at 2pm the following afternoon.

Check the product pages when shopping online as order deadlines vary depending on the supplier if it isn't the department store who will be doing the delivery.

Amazon

Final dates for Amazon:

Tuesday, December 20

Customers opting to use the free delivery service need to place their orders by this date. Free delivery takes 3-5 business days to reach you after your items have been dispatched..

Wednesday, December 21

Order your items by this date to get your delivery before Christmas Day.

Friday, December 23

There are two order services available on the Friday before Christmas - One-day and Express delivery.

However it isn't guaranteed you will get this option as availability is limited and won't apply for all items and locations.

In short if you're leaving it until December 23 to buy your gifts you're better off hitting the stores.

Christmas Day

If your auntie, uncle or a distant relative unexpectedly pops round and there's nothing under the tree for them you can print out an Amazon gift card as a last-minute present. Alternatively you can also email it to them.

Currys PC World

Final dates for Currys PC World:

Delivery for smaller items:

This includes TVs under 39”, laptops, desktops computers, cameras, kettles, irons, microwaves, or other small kitchen appliances.

Tuesday, December 20

Choose the free delivery option at the checkout and place your order before for 4pm.

Friday, December 23

Order on or before this date by 8pm.

Alternatively you can also choose the reserve and collect option which will be available until 3pm on Christmas Eve.

Delivery for larger items:

This includes cookers, hobs and built in appliances that will need installing.

Saturday, December 17

Place your order before 8pm for gas installations on items like cookers, built in ovens and hobs to be done before Christmas Day.

Tuesday, December 20

Order by 8pm to ensure electric installations on cookers, hobs, built in ovens and integrated appliances are done in time.

Thursday, December 22

If you are buying a washing machine, fridge or TV order before 8pm.

Argos

Final dates for Argos:

Monday, December 19

Choose the Royal Mail delivery service and receive your items within four working days. If you order by Monday your package should be with you by Friday, December 23. This delivery option is free.

Next day delivery by 8pm

If you select the Standard delivery option at the checkout you can get your items the next day - the service costs £3.95 and you need to place your order by 8pm. Argos offers the service between Mondays and Saturdays.

Due to high demand in the lead-up to Christmas don't leave your order until the last minute as you run the risk of not getting your parcel on time.

eBay
