TRADITION is a powerful force in many musical organisations and few would feel their year quite complete without one of those traditions, a Christmas concert.

That is exactly what Skelmanthorpe Band will be doing on home ground this weekend.

The band will plays its annual festive concert at carol in St Aidan’s church in Skelmanthorpe tomorrow night.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and you can pay on the door. Tickets are £5.00, with under 12s free.

It has been another good year for the band with a major Huddersfield Town Hall concert in the summer featuring special guest Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts.

Tomorrow, if you turn up early for the concert, you’ll get to hear the banding stars of the future as Skelmanthorpe’s Training Band has been given the job of warming up the atmosphere as the audience arrives out of the cold.

These young musicians will be playing from 6.45pm so turn up early, check out their progress and get extra value for money!
