ARTIST Peter Brook was a regular at the Merrie England Coffee Shop in Brighouse where he had a fan in owner Keith Hanselmann who is also a painter.

It is because of that connection that Steve Lord, owner of nearby Harrison Lord Gallery in Brighouse has organised for a talk about a new biography on Peter to be held at the artist’s local cafe.

Stuart Archer, who has co-written, A Life In Painting a book, will talk about the life and work of Peter Brook who died in 2009.

Steve Lord said: “As many people will know, Peter was a regular at the Merrie England Coffee Shop and it seemed fitting this should be the venue for the talk. “

“Keith Hanselmann, a Peter Brook fan was keen to support the event.”

Stuart Archer worked with David Walker to produce the large hardback book which journeys through the artist’s creative life, and details his influences and inspirations along the way.

From his early watercolours and engravings to his humorous titles and beloved dogs, the book offers is a tribute to a well loved artist

The talk is at the Merrie England Coffee Shop, 31 Commercial Street, Brighouse on March 16 at 7.30pm.

Entrance is by ticket only. Contact the Harrison Lord Gallery for details on 01484 722462.
