THERE’S a treat in store for all Gilbert and Sullivan fans next week with a new look at one of the best known of the Savoy operas.

Opening night for Meltham Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of The Gondoliers is on Tuesday and evening performances run all week at 7.30pm. There is also a Saturday matinee at Meltham Parish Church Hall.

John Schofield is the musical director in charge of an orchestra of musicians he has brought together to play the music in what is surely of the best loved of all the Gilbert and Sullivan collaborations.

Becky Gregson-Flynn, who has played roles with a number of societies in the area, takes on the job as director for Meltham for the first time.

She has plenty to work with as The Gondoliers offers bags of tuneful songs and plenty of Venetian style silliness for the company and audience to have fun with.

Tickets from the Flower Box, Meltham.
