IT IS the story of a girl and the three men in her life.

The one that she wants, the one she used to want and the one doesn’t want at all!

If it all sounds familiar then wait and see just how much stronger the connections are when that whole scenario is filtered through the humour of Alan Ayckbourn.

Favourites Dick and Lottie return to the Lawrence Batley Theatre next week with a new look at Ayckbourn’s Time And Time Again.

It can never be too soon for fans of this company to see Dick and Lottie back in residence at the LBT Cellar space.

The company’s last outing in Ayckbourn’s Table Manners was a sell-out success story so expect more of the same.

Dick and Lottie first played the LBT in 2004. It was founded by John Cotgrave and Richard McArtney and devotes itself to the works of Scarborough-based playwright, Sir Alan Ayckbourn.

It even takes its name from two characters created by Ayckbourn who are referred to in a trio of his plays, but who never appear on stage.

John directs this latest show but is also on stage playing the role of Graham.

Richard is back in the company too to play Leonard while another company favourite Maria Sykes joins them on stage.

Catherine Traveller, who John taught at the LBT Youth Theatre a decade ago, is a new face in the cast.

She saw a previous Dick and Lottie production and just had to join.

And Tom Wroe, also a new face in the company is another young actor who has worked with John. He’s a year 11 student at Honley High School where John is one of the drama teachers.

The company has plenty of plans for what to do next.

They will return to the LBT in the autumn with part two of Ayckbourn’s The Norman Conquests but before that will be making something of a pilgrimage to Scarborough, home of all things Ayckbourn.

“We are the only company in the world as far as we know who concentrates totally on the works of Alan Ayckbourn,” said John.

“We’ve been invited to go to Scarborough in October to get involved in a two-day conference about his work.

“We will be concentrating on some of his earlier work like his first play, Square Cat, Love After All, Dad’s Tale and The Sparrow.”

First, join Dick and Lottie for Time And Time Again at the LBT from Tuesday through to Saturday. Box office is on 01484 430528.
