YOU might not yet have had your summer holiday but it is time to get out the diary and fill in some autumn dates.

Huddersfield Thespians has announced its new season of plays which begin at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in October.

And that means that auditions are fast approaching.

If you want to get involved, you will have to commit to five or six weeks of rehearsal plus six performances including a matinee.

Auditions begin in June for the first two plays in the season with a third set of auditions running in July for play number three. If the dates clash with your summer in the sun, then contact the Thespians.

The season opens with Amanda Whittington’s comedy, Ladies Day which runs at the LBT from October 11 – 15.

The audition will be on June 20 at 2011 at 7:30 in the Thespians’ headquarters at Oakes Mills West at Lindley.

There is a cast of four women who will swap their fish packing hair nets and overalls for the glamour of a day at the races. And there is just one man needed for the company but he gets to play half a dozen characters.

The season’s second play is Easy Terms by Frank Vickery.

That plays in the LBT Cellar Theatre in November and requires two women and two men for the cast.

Auditions for that are on June 28, also at Oakes Mill West.

The third show runs in January and is John Godber’s Happy Families. Put July 11 in your diary if you want to audition for that one.

The Thespians are looking for a cast of six women and three men.
