EVERYONE thinks they know the story of Robinson Crusoe?

But if you were asked, would you know why he was there on his desert island in the first place? And what did happen to Robinson Crusoe – when his ordeal was over?

You may get some answers, though perhaps not as you know them when Brighouse Theatre Productions gets to work later this month retelling the story of Robinson Crusoe.

The show, directed by Pete Forsyth is at Brighouse Civic Hall from January 26-29. And yes, that does include a Sunday which is a new venture by the Brighouse group.

Its cast will be following Crusoe’s footsteps from the exotic shores of Brazil, through encounters with blood-thirsty pirates and battles with immortals and hungry cannibals. He is aided in all this by the outrageous, flamboyant Dame Margarita Juicilita, her dizzy son Nutty Nick, the beautiful Juanita and her protective father Captain Seasalt.

Then of course there's Friday and the inevitable parrot predictably called Poll.

One of the most popular characters in any pantomime is the Dame and the lady’s mighty boots are filled in this show by Eddie Hoyle who is no stranger to the role.

He’s played the Dame for 30 years, mainly in Marsden's renowned all-male pantomimes performed by The Yorkshire Avalanche Dodgers.

See the show at Brighouse on Thursday and Friday January 26 and 27 at 7.15pm; on Saturday January 28 at 2.15pm and 7.15pm and in that new Sunday venture (January 29) at 1.15pm. Tickets on 01484 402435.
