FANCY clowning around this weekend?
The international touring company Compagnie Animotion are coming to town.
As part of the Imagine series The War of Buttons will be on stage twice on Saturday, September 26.
Created in Paris by Hayli Clifton, it integrates a mix of non-verbal communication from French and British Sign Language with music, puppetry, clowning and movement.
Animotion creates a new language of theatre, accessible to deaf, hearing and international audiences alike.
Aimed at children aged three to eight, The War of Buttons tells the tale of squabbles, scuffles – and of course buttons.
It features the tale of George who grows grapes and Bessie who grows cabbages. One loves the sun but one loves the rain. One day a petty squabble grows into the war of the buttons.
In a silly and wonderful tale, buttons and friendships are lost and won, games are played and audiences young and old can rediscover their inner child.
Compagnie Animotion will take the audience on a journey into a world where you are invited to eat birthday cake, take sides and where a button can be a kiss, a wish or a present.
The War of Buttons runs tomorrow, Saturday, September 26, at 11am and 2pm at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.
