IT’S back to basics for Emley Drama Group.
And result is set to be an hilarious evening of entertainment courtesy of Philip King’s See How They Run and the group’s very own acting talent.
Back to basics means wartime and the vital ingredients of a classic farce.
Take four vicars, a bishop, a pretty actress turned vicar’s wife, a maid and a stranger with a mysterious accent.
Add lots of misunderstandings, misplacing of vicars’ trousers and mistaken identities and the outcome is obvious.
Rip-roaring farce. That’s what’s on offer from Wednesday at Emley Methodist Church hall.
Performances will run nightly at 7.30pm until Friday.
Experienced director Karen Kirkup has the job of keeping all the actors in some sort of appropriate disorder.
Those actors include David Lightfoot, Christopher Thompson, Amanda Gill, Sebastian Bales, Jane Fellows, Heather Boulby, Garry Wilkinson and John Emms, the latter in a new role in his long and distinguished acting career – that of a man of the cloth!
John’s other leisure job, he’s now retired, is to continue to produce the best interval reading in a programme this side of the Pennines!
