THERE is no let up this summer for Huddersfield Thespians.

With five plays scheduled to be seen at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in the 2012/2013 season, work is already well advanced on casting the shows.

The latest round of auditions is on Monday and Tuesday of next week (August 20 and 21) at the society’s headquarters at Oakes Mill West.

That’s when actors will be able to pitch for a part in one of Alan Bennett’s famous monologues which will be staged as the last production of the season.

This is a chance for actors to get their teeth into some of the best possible performance pieces in which to show off their skills.

The pieces chosen are A Chip in the Sugar, A Lady of Letters, A Bed Among the Lentils, Soldiering On, Her Big Chance and A Cream Cracker Under the Settee.

Those chosen to play in these outstanding pieces will get their first read through of the script in November and will be expected to know their lines (and there are a lot of them for each individual) by the time rehearsals get underway next March.

Performances are in late April and May.

Next week’s auditions are at 7.30pm and actors need to prepare a three-minute taster of the role they are wanting to play.

The man to contact for copies of the pieces is Alistair Cheetham on 07872 616457 or at apcheetham@sky.com

If you want to audition but can’t make those dates then he is also the person to ring.

If the spotlight is not for you but you would like to be involved as a production assistant or prompts for these or any of the Thespians’ plays in the coming season then contact
