ROLL UP, roll up, to gaze in wonder at the circus skills learned by a team of youngsters from Huddersfield.

The eight 11-16-year-olds from Deighton and Brackenhall will be entertaining the crowds at a Courtyard Circus outside the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Saturday, August 4.

The young people have been part of a project called Take Centre Stage, developed by the theatre’s community engagement department.

With funding from the Deighton and Brackenhall Initiative, the project aimed to give youngsters the chance to learn performing arts skills, attend shows and showcase their own work.

The Courtyard Circus will mark the end of the initiative, which has been running since 2009.

Hosted by a couple of wacky clowns, the free event will feature juggling, a flea circus, street theatre and other circus acts.

See the amazing Uncle Tacko’s Flea Circus or stare in awe at High Jinx Street Theatre with its mix of magic, illusion, escapology, juggling, music and dance.

You can sit in the spectacular van of pure colour and learn circus skills from Sean The Juggler.

There will be workshops and performances on the LBT main stage throughout the day.

The young people of Deighton and Brackenhall have made sure there’s something for all the family.
