CRANFORD was a TV success story so a stage version should do well at the box office.
Actress Rachel Laurence has adapted Mrs Gaskell’s famous book, Cranford turning it into a stage piece for two performers which she has called, The Ladies of Cranford: A Celebration of a Certain Age.
See it at the Square Chapel in Halifax on January 20. It will feature Rachel along with Sandra Hunt, two talented actresses whose fond, faithful and funny adaptation of this classic story has been delighting audiences around the country.
The show is directed by Fine Time Fontayne, renowned for his own acting skills, and Richard Stone.
The two were at the Square Chapel last year with a production of The Key to the Garden, performed by Rachel Laurence and directed by Sandra Hunt.
The show was much applauded and the two are delighted to be back with a new performance.
Rachel has written three plays for Hunt and Laurence all of which have toured nationally as have their performances of two monologues from Alan Bennett’s first Talking Heads collection and Fast Woman – a one woman show featuring Sandra Hunt.
Rachel is an experienced theatre and TV actress and also works as a drama tutor.
Sandra spent several years as a professional dancer before making a career for herself in acting where she has worked extensively on stage and on TV.
