Do you have time to spare? Are you a great organiser?

If the answer to either or both of those questions is yes, then you could be just the person a Holme Valley arts project is looking for.

Holme Valley Sharing Memories, is looking for volunteers to help with its fundraising activities.

Sharing Memories is a group of elderly people based in Holmfirth, who work on creative and heritage-based projects.

The group meets every week and offers older people the opportunity to learn new art skills and mix with other groups.

Project Manager, Sally Brown, said: “We have some great ideas for raising money, which don’t include shaking collection boxes in people’s faces!

“We just need some help to get these ideas off the ground.”

Sharing Memories was formed in 1994 and costs around £30,000 a year to run.

Overheads include room hire, transport, insurance and sessional fees for artists.

“We raise most of our money from funders such as Arts Council England and Kirklees Council” said Sally.

“But it helps if we have match funding for our projects, which means raising a certain amount ourselves.”
