NOW HERE’S a drama challenge for those who think they have a way with words.

When David McGillivray and Walter Berlin Jnr started writing comedy, their imaginations ran riot.

The result was a series of hilarious farces based on a fictional townswomen’s guild whose members were into amateur theatre – and plays with very silly titles.

Pierrot Players are ready for the off with a new production of one of the best and the title is pretty good too.

They Came From Mars and Landed Outside The Farndale Avenue Church Hall In Time For The Townswomen’s Guild’s Coffee Morning.

Try getting that name on a programme but that’s what the Players have been busy doing in time for next week’s production of the show which opens at Shelley Village Hall on Wednesday April 14 where it runs for four nights.

Now the Players have laid down a challenge with two free tickets to see their show as an incentive.

Come up with a suitable play for them to perform in the future and you could be a winner – if you find a play with a longer title than the one they are staging next week.

Arthur Firth directs the show with performances each evening at 7.30pm.

Tickets for this show from Shelley Stores and Shepley Newsagents and if you hit on a play for the Players, one that lingers in the title department, call Christine Schofield on 1484 605974.
