It's the weekend!

If the weather is as blustery and rainy as it's been all week, you probably want to hide indoors — and lucky for you, we've got three events where you can hide away from the rubbish weather.

If you fancy a laugh, some battlefield theatre or a movie marathon, read on for three ways to make the most of your Saturday:

  1. Tour the WW1 battlefields with the Troupers — It's 1914 and the theatres have performers, but no audiences. The logicial solution? Take your show on tour to the battlefields of France. The Mikron Theatre Company's production of Troupers is at Marsden Mechanics Hall, Marsden, tonight and makes for an entertaining Saturday night out. The show starts at 7.30pm — tickets cost £11 (£9 concessions), click here to book.

  2. Laugh with Jo Caulfield at the LBT — Award-winning comic Jo Caulfield is back on tour and bringing her latest show, Celebration of Anger, to the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield. The Radio 4 and panel show star is celebration the art of ranting - when life presents such irritations as vacuous celebrities, endless TV quiz shows, arrogant shop-assistants, emotionally 'challenged' men, drunken girlfriends who always pick the wrong partner, and a husband who continually quotes The Godfather, surely having a good rant - and a good laugh - is the only sensible reaction? The show starts at 8pm, and tickets cost £13 (£11 concessions) — click here to book.

  3. Watch all three Lord of the Rings films - back to back - at the Royal Armouries — A museum full of battle armour, weapons and war exhibits seems the perfect location to watch the epic battles of Middle Earth unfold — and so the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds, is showing The Fellowship of the Ring, the Two Towers and the Return of the King, back to back, 10am-10pm. Before each film there will be a talk on the armoury of Middle Earth — grab some popcorn and follow the Fellowship as they set off on their mighty quest to defeat the Dark Lord Sauron. Tickets cost £10, click here to book.
