Some things go together perfectly: fish and chips, port and Stilton and dinosaurs and er... golf.

Never mind... if you're partial to putting a hole or two and fancy something different DinoFalls might be par for the course.

The course at Trafford Golf Centre, near the Trafford Centre, Manchester, has an array of life-sized roaring and moving dinosaurs.

And if you've got the poise and concentration to make the leaderboard these huge beasts shouldn't put you off your stroke.

As well as mighty Jurassic reptiles the 18-hole course is landscaped to look like something out of prehistory with a cave, waterfall and lagoon.

As you enter the course you're greeted by an iguanadon being attacked by two moving velociraptors. That should give you a flavour of what's to come.

A winding path embossed with fossil prints guides golfers around the 18-hole course site, passing over and around a river that spills from a waterfall into a blue lagoon at the bottom.

A triceratops skull and a stegosaurus spine are among the obstacles players must tackle on their way round the course, while a ferocious-looking T-rex and allosaurus, a water-spraying pterodactyl, a dipolodocus and a moving, roaring triceratops stand guard.

One hole leads players through a cave behind the 3m-high waterfall before emerging to hit their ball directly into the rapids to be carried the next hole.

The course will be open to all ages and abilities but is predicted to be particularly popular with families.

Pete Styles, director of golf at Trafford Golf Centre, told the Manchester Evening News : “We always want to generate new players and there’s nothing better to get kids playing golf than an adventure golf course.

“Over the last five to six years, golf courses like these have been really popular in the UK and we decided that an attraction as good as Trafford Golf Centre at a site as good as we have here really deserved one of the best courses in the UK.

“Dinosaurs are popular with all ages - boys and girls, adults and children - and they are actually on the curriculum for younger children now in schools.

“Lots of children are expected to come to DinoFalls to experience it first hand, and get as close as they can to these life sized dinosaurs.”

The course will be open from 7am to 10.30pm every day with the last round starting at 9.55pm.

Games cost £8 per adult and £6 for children, with family tickets available from £22. There’s no need to book, just turn up and play. Visit dinofalls.co.uk for more information.
