  • Feel the rhythm at Marsden Jazz Festival - One of the north's largest jazz festivals, Marsden Jazz Festival will see scores of musicians take over the village this weekend, with gigs happening in a multitude of venues.   • Wander from Brighouse to Shibden - Journey from Brighouse to Shibden Hall, Halifax, on an eight-mile moderate walk led by Peter Davies. Meet at the car park at Brighouse Railway Station at 10.30am.

  • Feel patriotic at Meltham's Last Night of the Proms - Meltham Mills Band will perform classics including Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia at their Last Night of the Proms tonight. The concert, in its 11th year, will feature baritone soloist Nigel Rothery, who will also duet with Stephanie Ball, accompanied by Jean Collison on the piano. The concert will be held at Meltham St Bartholomew's Parish Church at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6 - proceeds will be split between the church and the band.
