The new school term may be just around the corner in Kirklees, but there's still plenty of family fun in and around Huddersfield.

This weekend boasts a variety of events and days out, from fun fairs to canal festivals and even free climbing training!

Cambridge Road Car Park, Huddersfield

Enjoy all the fun of the fair for just a fiver as the annual amusement park returns.

Unlimited Riding wristbands cost £5 which give people up to three hours’ stay and rides. There are three sessions daily from 1pm-4pm, 3pm-6pm and 6pm-9pm and on Sunday there are two from 1pm-4pm and 3-6pm.

The rides include The Superstar giant swinging ride that gives various experiences of weightlessness whilst riders are also able to take a view from the air for several metres upside down.

Brighouse Canal, Beer and Music Festival

A weekend of free entertainment is cruising towards Brighouse as the event takes over town on Saturday and Sunday.

This is set to be the biggest ever Brighouse Canal, Beer and Music festival, with canal activites, a street food and craft market, live music and a real ale festival. There's also free cana; rides between 10am-5pm both days - simply visit the Brighouse Canal (behind Sainsbury's).

Free training day at Milnsbridge Climbing Boulder

Crow Lane Recreation Ground, Milnsbridge

The second free training day at Milnsbridge Climbing Boulder is taking place on Saturday — Huddersfield volunteers Milnsbridge Enhancement Group is again teaming up with Huddersfield Climbing Centre to offer a day’s free training.

Running from noon to 4pm, the day will be split into two sessions - the first open to all and the second more tailored instruction for small groups and individuals.

Mirfield Show 2016

Mirfield Showground, Mirfield

Sunday's show line-up includes a horse and pony show; an aerobatic display from, the Red Devils Parachute Regiment, members of which will meet and chat with spectators after the display; Blackrock llamas agility display team; tug-of-war; the Mirf’fest music stage; bonny baby show; fun dog show; and children’s competitions including Olympic-themed races.

The showground opens at 8.30am, when the horse and pony show will begin in the main ring. Tickets cost £5 for adults, under-16s go free.
