They say variety is the spice of life - and we've certainly got that for you today!

If you're looking for a night out, there's plenty going on in West Yorkshire this evening - from a comedian predicting revolution to the return of an 80s punk princess.

Here's three ideas for some Thursday fun:

  1. Join Russell Brand's revolution in Bradford — Comedian, television star, author and political rebel Russell Brand is at Bradford's National Media Museum to speak to the Guardian's Own Jones about political revolution, corrupt governments and his ideas for a brighter, fairer society. Brand's new book takes on talk show hosts, Fox News and BBC stalwarts. Head to the museum's Pictureville Cinema to learn more about the Russell revolution. Tickets cost £10 — click here to book.

  2. Relive the eighties with Toyah — That's right, 80s superstar Toyah is back — and she's performing live in Leeds tonight. Her Songs from the Intergalactic Ranch House tour, her fourth venture this year, is calling at Leeds University Union tonight, features hits from the Safari catalogue through to Crimson Queen, including. Tickets cost £18 — click here to book.

  3. Go see the X Factor's Lucy Spraggan — Remember Lucy Spraggan? In 2012, her cheeky acoustic pop won her a place on the X Factor live shows — but the singer songwriter quit after five weeks and went her own way, releasing her debut album the following year. Now the Derby-born singer is touring the UK, promoting new album Hit The Road —  catch her at Leeds' O2 Academy tonight. Click here to book.
