They are the cream when it comes to amateur photography.

And now a stunning exhibition of the work of Huddersfield’s amateur photographers has gone on show in the town.

Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club is showcasing the talent at its annual exhibition in Huddersfield Art Gallery, which runs to May 14.

Anticipating the Next Hurdle by Peter Thornton

There are 135 mounted and framed prints in the competitive section, and in addition to the usual categories this year, the ‘set subject’ was ‘Street Photography’. There is also a new Creative Print category.

The best images from each category of prints and digital images were chosen by independent judges provided by the Yorkshire Photographic Union.

Completing the exhibition are 13 mounted and framed prints in the Author’s Panel category, a non-competitive section in which members of the club produce a panel of prints linked together by style or subject matter and depicting a point of view or conceptual idea.
