CATCH Emily Druce and Steve Jones (pictured) when they play Shepley Cricket Club on Friday February 29 with new band, The Why and Wherefores.

The Holme Valley based musicians play contemporary blues, swinging all the way from roots to rockabilly.

The Whys and Wherefores is a five piece featuring Emily on guitar, vocals, fiddle and mandolin and Steve on guitar, vocals and harmonica.

Emily has two solo albums to her name and as well as being dubbed the Queen of British blues, is also admired for her songwriting.

She grew up playing musical instruments from the age of five and began song writing and gigging in her teens.

Since teaming up with Steve Jones several years ago, Emily has continued to broaden the scope of her styles in song writing and performance and has also returned to her first instrument, the violin, as well as playing some fine blues guitar. Their joint album, Songs from the Silver Band Room, recorded in Honley’s bandroom, was released in 2004.

Admission to the Shepley gig on February 29 is free, and the music starts about 8.30pm.
